Welcome to the Bechtel Lab. We study disease at the intersection of animal, environmental, and human health. We are involved in widespread surveillance of pathogens that occur in herpetofauna throughout the West and Southwest. Our lab combines field biology, molecular ecology, epidemiology, and community partnerships to understand how pathogens move through wildlife populations and changing environments. We work across desert, riparian, and montane ecosystems.
